The Edgartown Cemetery Department will be inspecting and removing any dead or dying bushes or small trees in the New Westside Cemetery up to 6th Avenue. Please reach out to the administrative assistant with any questions or concerns at 508-627-6145.

The Town of Edgartown maintains four cemeteries, each with its own individual style, charm, beauty and historical significance.

As of June 17, 2021, following the motion already in place regarding benches in the three other town owned cemeteries, no new benches will be allowed in the New Westside Cemetery unless they also serve as the headstone.

All Christmas decorations will be removed from the Town cemeteries Feb 1st.

Old Town Cemetery, also known as Tower Hill or Green Hollow, is located on Tower Hill Road, off Katama Road, and sits nestled amongst the pines at the edge of the inner harbor. Graves marking pre-Revolutionary and Revolutionary War heroes are found at this quiet resting place.

Jeffer's Lane Cemetery, also known as Indian Burial Ground or Hilltop Cemetery, is located on Jeffer's Lane on the island of Chappaquiddick. Sitting peacefully overlooking Cape Pogue Pond, it is abutted by conservation land. This cemetery contains both marked and unmarked graves of the Chappaquiddick Wampanoag tribe.

Located in-town between Robinson Road and Cooke Street, is Old Westside Cemetery, which sits amongst giant oaks and colorful maples. It contains Revolutionary and Civil War graves, and also has Colonial-era graves.

The New Westside Cemetery is located directly across Robinson Road, and was established in 1949 as an extension of the Old Westside Cemetery. A beautiful location lined with native trees along quahog-shelled lanes and abutting the town's recreational park, this is the only town cemetery that still has burial lots available for purchase.

Please see website FAQs for more information about lot sales and other cemetery information.
