The Edgartown Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. MPTC full-time Police Academy and POST Certified preferred. Applicant must be a U.S Citizen, at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid MA driver’s license, as well as a valid LTC or ability to obtain one. Applicants must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Police Officer. Successful applicants will be required to pass a medical and psychological examination, fitness test, and an extensive background investigation. Full-time Police Officer starting salary is $92,498.40 (8-step annual increase pay scale) with a $5,000 One-Time Sign-On Incentive, plus an educational incentive (Associates 6%, Bachelors 12%, Masters 15%), overtime pay, and detail pay. Newly appointed officer(s) who are not MPTC full-time academy and POST certified will attend a 26-week Recruit Officer Course (ROC) or Entry-level Police Academy Training sponsored by the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council (MPTC). Upon successful completion of the training academy, the new officer(s) will receive additional training through the Edgartown Police Department’s Field Training Program.
